Palms Research Center at Basrah University discussed the role of tissue culture in assessing the tolerance of date palm tissue to saline stress with the participation of researchers and specialists.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Ahmed Madi Wahid, aims to introduce chemicals and compounds that help date palms to resist the salty environment to activate date palm cultivation and return it to the front of the Iraqi economy.
The workshop included a discussion about the laboratory experiments related to the gradual addition of different levels of sodium chloride salts to the cells under test and to identify the lethal ratios that can stop the growth of cells and those that help them continue to grow and divide.
The scientific results in the workshop showed that the cells that are characterized by their ability to grow in that environment are resistant to salinity, experiments have shown that plants can be produced and introduced into environments with high concentrations of sodium chloride.
