
Twenty-two Iraqi universities have achieved important competitive ranks in the QS World University Rankings for the year 2022.
The official website of the ranking (https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/arab-region-university-rankings/2022) recorded the attendance and competition of twenty-two Iraqi universities, an increase of 6 universities over last year's edition, where Baghdad University topped the 26th place out of one hundred and eighty-one Arab universities competed according to academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), faculty/student ratio (15%), international research network (10%), web impact (5%), proportion of staff with a PhD (5%), citations per paper (5%), papers per faculty (5%), proportion of international faculty (2.5%) and proportion of international students (2.5%).
A number of universities appeared in this edition that competed for the first time in this international ranking, namely Al- Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, University of Information Technology and Communication, Nineveh University and Fallujah University, and Al-Kitab Privet University emerged for the first time as well.
It is worth noting that the Iraqi public and private universities and colleges have their presence and their rising competition in international rankings, especially the (The Times) classification, in which there are currently four Iraqi universities, and the (QS) classification, in which there are five universities, as well as its current version of the Arab region and the (Scimago) classification, in which there are twenty-two universities, the (Greenmetric) classification, in which sixty-one Iraqi universities entered, and the URAP classification, in which four Iraqi universities are present, in addition to the (Webometrics) classification, which recorded the attendance and competition of eighty-two Iraqi universities and colleges, while the scientific research indicator in the global publishing containers showed that Iraq ranked forty-fifth globally, sixth in the Middle East and third in the Arab world.
