The Department of Chemistry at the College of Science hossted a doctoral dissertation defense about the removal of harmful dyes from the aqueous solutions. The Ph.D. candidate has clarified that her study main study was to remove some toxic and hazardous dyes from the polluted water.
In this Study, Hydrogel polymers prepared upon acrylamide as a base, the prepared hydrogels were characterized by many techniques such as FTIR, FESEM, BJH and Z-potential. A batch adsorption systems for prepared hydrogels against 4 dyes showed excellent efficiency. Isotherm, kinetic and thermodynamic were studied for all adsorption systems. The desorption study showed the ability of using both hydrogel and removed dyes four times in good efficiency, the researcher showed in the thesis a recommendations for future works. The Study has also concluded that the prepared acrylamide hydrogels have excellent efficiency towards four toxic and hazardous dyes from aqueous solutions , and also showed good reusability along four cycles.
