A lecturer at University of Basrah has got a Ph.D from the University of Kiel, UK
Dr. Wafa Abdul Nabi Fleifel, a lecturer at College of Pharmacy ,University of Basrah has got a doctoral degree from the University of Kiel, UK. The thesis submitted was entitled: A urinary proteomics investigation of pregnancy-related complications.
The thesis included an introduction to preeclampsia , the complications of this sudden disorder, such as the formation of a poorly developed child (IUGR) , the inherited problems and disorders before and after giving birth for both mother and child. These disorders result in many health, social and financial problems for patients and health centers specially for mothers and newborn babies according to the World Health Organization (WHO) reports.
The latest studies and researches have been reviewed regarding this topic, so that until the last moment of the research, no effective biological signs have been found to help diagnose these disorders early in pregnancy. The study aimed to use the most recent laboratory methods used to determine early changes of protium for pregnant women who will develop pre-eclampsia, such as integrating the Labelling ITRAQ technique with (MS). The statistical analysis of the results showed that the proteins are quantitatively and quantitatively identified after comparison with non-disturbed pregnant women during (15) weeks of pregnancy. These results may help health centers in early diagnosis of pre-eclampsia, especially pregnant women for the first time who will develop pre-eclampsia later , and for those who have no previous data as well as it may help in early detection of pre-eclampsia by using release samples for analysis and diagnosis, which may decrease their mortality.
