The Unit of Civil Defense in the College of Dentistry, in cooperation with the Division of Civil Defense in the presidency of the University held a specialized awareness guiding course on the practices of the civil defense and identifying the types of fire extinguishers and ways to use them.
The course aims to acquaint the members of the civil defense and the participants from the College and the civil defense committees with the types of fire extinguishers and teach them how to use them in emergencies as well as storing them properly, in addition to developing the participants’ information on the practices of civil defense, get them acquainted with the primary prevention in case of emergencies and how to deal with emergency situations.
The course lecturer, Rahim Ali Hatem, former Director of the Civil Defense in the University of Basrah, showed that the most important outcomes of the course is to increase the awareness of the practices of civil defense for the employees, especially the members of the civil defense and guards, and to improve the participants’ awareness on dealing with fire extinguishers, their maintenance and storage, as well as the identifying the types of fires and how to deal with them.
