I researched a doctoral thesis at the College of Fine Arts, University of Basra, which dealt with the political employment of religious thought in the contemporary Iraqi theatrical text
The thesis presented by the researcher Issa Mohsen Ali included the problem of exploiting and employing religious thought because of its ability to create convictions and principles and direct them, which was reflected in the Iraqi writer's vision in raising this problem in the theatrical text.
The thesis aims to shed light on how regimes employ and exploit religious thought to serve their political interests. As for the need for it, it lies in educating students about how this phenomenon has been addressed as a phenomenon worthy of research.
The thesis concluded that it is necessary to shed light on this problem in an attempt to provoke the Iraqi recipient and warn him of the danger of this exploitation and employment, as it is dangerous to the Iraqi social fabric because it helps to spread division and stir up sectarian strife that ruptures the unity of the Iraqi ranks.
