On Saturday 4/12/2021, the College of Marine Sciences organized a scientific trip for fourth-level students from the Department of Applied Marine Sciences to Shatt AlBasra Regulator as part of the Coastal Resources Management Course. The students were accompanied by the head of the department, Dr. Wesal Fakhri Hassan, and the course teacher, Dr. Jassim Hussein Abdullah. The trip was organized in collaboration with Public Estuary Department. Eng. Jumaa Shia, director of Water Resources in Basrah and engineer Haider Shanan Salal, the project manager, introduced the students to the mechanism of the regulator management, ship entry processes, and the contrast between the riverine and marine environment on both sides of the regulator.
