The College of Education for Pure Sciences in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Basra discussed a doctoral thesis on (Preparation and characterization of some complexes of transitional metals derived from β-ketone compounds and their derivatives and the study of their metallic properties)
The thesis presented by the researcher (Bashir Jawad Kazem) included four ligands for the bases of Schiff A, B, C, and D derived from the condensation of aromatic diamine compounds (4,4,-Oxydianiline and 4,4,-methylenedianiline (with two beta-diketone compounds). acetylacetone and 3-chloro-2,4-pentanedione) with a molar ratio of 2:1 and the ligands were identified by infrared, visible and ultraviolet spectra, nuclear magnetic resonance (13CNMR, 1HNMR) and mass spectra (mass) ESI). A series of complexes of the transition elements Cu(II),Co(II),Cr(III),Fe(III), VO(II) for the prepared ligands A,B,C,D with a molar ratio of 1:1. These complexes were diagnosed by (IR) techniques. UV-Vis, ESI), molar conductivity, magnetic sensitivity, thermogravimetric analysis, and Coats-Redfern method was used to calculate the kinetic and thermodynamic functions.
The thesis showed the results of spectral and thermal analysis that its geometrical shape is octahedral, as well as the presence of coordination water inside the coordination ball and the high stability of the prepared compounds.
