The College of Engineering imported a pipe stiffness test device from China, and the device was installed in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the College of Engineering, University of Basrah.
Dr. Murtadha Abbas Jabbar indicated that the device is used to examine the stiffness of pipes, especially large-sized GRP pipes, where the device can reach more than 2m in diameter.
The device is also used to test the hoop stresses for pipes for the first time in Basrah. The device is computerized and useful for the tests of postgraduate students and undergraduate studies, as well as tests for the benefit of the oil and private sector companies.
