The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra organized an online workshop on the cognitive and cultural foundations of corruption on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day
The aim of the workshop is to raise citizens’ awareness of the intellectual and cultural foundations that pave the way for corruption in order to avoid and combat it wherever possible.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Rifaat Abdullah Jassim, included clarification, clarification and interpretation of some realistic examples of a set of intellectual foundations that represent the Iraqi culture as well as the prevailing customs and traditions that encourage the growth of corruption and create the appropriate atmosphere for it. Finally, providing solutions that can contribute to spreading a sustainable anti-corruption societal culture.
In the end,it is recommanded that to emphase role of the family in raising the new youth in a sound manner, and cultivating a sound culture that fortifies the human being and prevents him from falling into the quagmire of corruption.
The participation of the various religious, media and cultural parties of society in order to build a supportive culture in line with the changes of the new era.
The necessity of the state’s participation in moving on the awareness of the ordinary citizen, with the aim of modifying what can be modified and strengthening what can be strengthened in its knowledge structure and in what could ultimately serve the interest of the country and the citizen alike, especially after the great systematic change in governance after 2003.
