The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basra, in the Department of Chemistry, organized a scientific lecture on studying the effect of terminal aggregates on the liquid crystalline properties of heterocyclic compounds.
The lecture presented by the researcher (Haider Abdel Salam Abdel Wahab) included
A simple introduction to liquid crystals (definition, classification, molecular structure of thermotropic liquid crystals and factors affecting the appearance of both nematic and smectic phases) and then a recent study published in 2021 which talks about the effect of terminal groups on the liquid crystal properties of new heterocyclic compounds was addressed. .
The aim of the lecture is to demonstrate the effect of terminal aggregates on the liquid crystalline properties of new heterocyclic compounds derived from benzothiazoles and to study their crystalline properties.
