The College of Education for Human Sciences organized a scientific symposium on .. (The dangers of drugs on the individual and society). The symposium included a lecture, which is part of the activities of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division in the College of Education for Human Sciences presented by .. (Professor Batoul Ghaleb Al-Nahi / Department of Educational Sciences
And psychological (during which) it dealt with the definition of drugs and their various natural and synthetic types, and showed their harm to the individual and society, and clarified through an illustrative film the dangers of crystal and its physical and psychological symptoms
The symposium dealt with digital drugs, their definition, types and danger, as a technical war waged against the youth of Arab societies to destroy them and disrupt the forces of production and creativity in them)
The symposium discussed (the phenomenon of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in it from the social phenomena associated with all aspects of personal, demographic, social and economic life, all of which are interwoven factors and data that interact in the midst of the daily life of human society with its different individuals and groups and produce negative effects and damages of varying proportions in quantity and type together, as the damages differ. Resulting from the spread of drugs, trafficking and abuse, with different negative effects as a result of their association with different variables, some of which relate to the type of drug that is used, the level and degree of abuse and addiction, the time period that has passed since drug abuse and the possibility of responding to treatment. The role of the family, school, media, religious institution and institutions were also discussed. And the aim of the symposium (to educate postgraduate students living in internal departments about drug dangers, believing the Presidency of Basra University and the Deanship of the College of Education for Human Sciences provides guidance and preventive guidance to immunize youth and raise awareness of drug dangers)
The symposium stressed the importance of the university’s role in reducing drug abuse, and among these recommendations is the establishment of a consultative center affiliated to Basra University for the treatment of addiction, with the participation of specialized professors from the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, Psychological Counseling, Physical Education, Pharmacy, Medicine and Fine Arts who work as a working team in this center
