A preliminary scientific cooperation memorandum was signed between the Arab Gulf Academy for Marine Studies and the College of Marine Science. This memorandum included a number of points, the most important of which was the use of the Academy's laboratories by the college, joint teaching, giving marine safety courses to the students of the college, and opening postgraduate studies for graduates of the Marine Academy.
