The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a panel discussion on fungi and their use in the field of biotechnologies The seminar, in which Prof. Dr. Mohamed Amer Fayyad lectured, aims to identify the most important benefits of fungi and their uses in biotechnology. The episode dealt with the most important antibiotics and beneficial compounds produced by fungi, which are useful in treating some diseases such as cancer, diabetes and diseases of the nervous system. The episode touched on the use of these fungi to promote plant growth and increase their tolerance to salinity and drought, as well as their use in treating agricultural crop residues, aromatic compounds, pesticides and other uses.
