MSc Student Alaa A. Maytham pointed out that zooplankton is one of the favorites in the monitoring of water systems because they have characteristics of appearance and functional that make them useful in this field to give early warnings to environmental problems, pointing to the record of a sharp rise in saline concentrations and total hardness and total dissolved salts in the fall compared to previous studies, which affected the presence of Zooplankton very significantly. Salinity has a role in controlling the distribution and spread of Copepoda in the aquatic environment in addition to the lack of the Cladocera presence. Rotifera group, both quantitatively and qualitatively, prevailed over the cortical plankton for many reasons, including availability of food and their higher rates of reproduction compared to other groups. Zooplankton affect water quality due to its short life cycle and increased density, as it quickly responds to changes in water quality.
