On Wednesday morning, 26/10/ 2022 in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah a master thesis entitled (Geographical analysis of the plastic industries in Basrah Governorate) was discussed.
The thesis presented by the student Walid Ayoub Abbas included four chapters.The first chapter discussed the concept, components, importance and characteristics of the plastic industries in Basrah Governorate ,the second chapter discussed the factors of industrial settlement of the plastic industries in Basrah Governorate ,the third chapter dealt with the structure of the plastic industries in Basrah Governorate , and the fourth chapter dealt with the problems of the plastic industries in Basrah Governorate.
The thesis aims at the geographical analysis of the plastic industries in Basrah Governorate and to identify their importance, characteristics and manufacturing methods in them, to clarify the impact of the natural, human and economic components on them and to know the reality of their geographical distribution according to industrial types and at the level of districts.
The thesis concluded that Basrah Governorate possesses geographic components that have effectively contributed to the settlement and growth of the plastic industries in it. Among these components are its distinctive geographical location, manpower, energy sources and the market.
