The Department of Ecology, Faculty of Science, University of Basra, organized a seminar on the monthly changes in water quality during the highest and lowest tides in the central part of the Shatt al-Arab.
The seminar, which was lectured by graduate student Russell Zaid Khalaf, aims to implement the Canadian Water Quality Manual with Iraqi proposed specifications.
The study recommended continuously monitoring the water quality of the Shatt al-Arab during the two tidal phenomena, and the necessity for the Ministry of Water Resources to take the necessary measures to prepare a sufficient amount of water for the Shatt al-Arab to mitigate various pollutants.
