A master's thesis dissertation defense was discussed in the College of Science at the University of Basrah entitled (Study of the virulence factors of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from burn' patients) by the graduate student Raghad Jamil Mahdi AL-Hamdani and the number of its chapters five, the study aims to isolation of Pseudomonas earuginosa from burn' patients and the surrounding environment, Investigating the genes responsible for virulence factors such as exoA and nan1 using specific primers and determination of the sensitivity of Pseudomonas earuginosa bacteria towards some antibiotics belonging to different groups and search for alternative treatment using plant extracts. The study included the collection of 112 swabs, 68 samples from burn patients and 44 samples from their surrounding environment including (air, bed, Patient companion, and nursing room). The samples were grown on MacConkey agar and Pseudomonas chromogenic agar. These isolates were then diagnosed with biochemical tests, in addition to producing pyocyanin and melanin pigments. Then 20 isolates were diagnosed with Vitek 2 and the remaining samples were diagnosed with the 16S rRNA gene. 41 isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were obtained, 26 from burn' patients and 15 from their environment. In addition to the presence of other types of microorganisms, represented by Staphylococcus aureus, E coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, Proteus, Citrobacter, Enterobacter cloacae and Candida spp yeast. The study also showed that bacteria possess each of the exoA gene by (92.68%), nan1 (9.75%) and its high ability to produce the biofilm and its comparison with the resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to antibiotics, where 10 antibiotics belonging to different groups were used. And due to the high ability of bacteria to resist the used antibiotics, the effectiveness of three types of extracts were studied, including (the stem bark of Sidr plant, Allium sativum and oyster shell), which recorded a higher effectiveness than the antibiotics used in this study. For fast diagnosis, use the vitek2 compact, but for more accurate and efficient use 16S rRNA gene, using Real Time PCR technology to determine the expression of virulence factors in the patient's blood sample, analyzing the crude extract to the composition of its components and determining the toxicity to be recommended as an alternative treatment.
