On Wednesday morning, 11/4/2020, a doctoral thesis was discussed in the Department of History at the College of Arts at Basra University entitled " Sheikh Mujib Al-Rahman and His Role in Establishing Bangladesh 1971-1975".
The thesis submitted by the student Fatima Atheeb Jumaa included four chapters. The first chapter dealt with the emergence of Sheikh Mujib al-Rahman and his social formation. The second chapter discussed the role of Mujib al-Rahman in the secession of East Pakistan from 1970-1971, and the third chapter dealt with the internal and external policy of Mujib al-Rahman 1972-1975. The fourth chapter showed the reasons and internal and external reactions on the coup of 15 August 1975.
The thesis aims to clarify the politically influential and pivotal role of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the history of East Pakistan after the division of the Indian subcontinent and the Establishing of Pakistan in 1947, which was characterized by the differentiation and division between the eastern and western parts of Pakistan. And after this political and social chaos, the character of Mujibur Rahman who became the spokesman for Bengal emerged in estern Pakistan, and the inspiring leader who demanded the rights of his people until the emergence of their own political entity.
