The Department of Horticulture and landscape design was held the first workshop in date palm biotechnology under the title (Employing bio technologies to serve the date palm) on Monday, December 7, 2020. The lectures were introduced by Dr. Reda Mizbani from Morocco, Dr. Ahmed Madi from the Date Palm Research Center (about tissue culture technique), Dr. Aqeel Hadi (about the genetic transfer of the salinity resistance gene to Date palm tissue ), and Dr. Ahmed Yousef (about gender diagnostic in date palm )from the College of Agriculture, University of Basra
