Board research at Basra University College of Medicine discussed the effects of sickle cell disease on the spine. The research presented by the student Furat Hassan Shibl aims to classify different disorders related to the spine of patients with sickle cell anemia. The research concluded that the most acute attacks of pain are due to capillary vascular occlusion crises, and purulent spine inflammation is rare in sickle cell disease. And the distinction between purulent inflammation and infarction is difficult in light of clinical and radiological examinations. Also, one herniated disc was discovered in the lumbar spine in only one patient who had an MRI scan.
