A master's thesis at the University of Basra discusses (the hydrogeomorphological characteristics of the Abu Karisha basin in the southeastern section of Wasit Governorate using GIS and RS)
A master's thesis in the Department of Geography, College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Basra, researched the hydrogeomorphological characteristics of the Abu Karisha basin in the southeastern section of Wasit Governorate, using GIS and RS, by the student Zainab Salim Jabbar.
It dealt with the hydrogeomorphological characteristics of the Abu Karisha basin, relying on modern technologies (RS), ((GIS) and the digital elevation model (DEM) in order to obtain accurate data.
The study included six chapters dealing with the concept of the geomorphological map and the GIS programs used in the study, as well as the modeling of natural characteristics, morphometric and hydrological characteristics, and geomorphological risks.
The thesis concluded the importance and role of modern geographical techniques as an important source with accurate results in the study, and that the waterways run from the northeast towards the southwest of Wasit Governorate, forming an area of (177.39) km 2, and it consists of three river basins and six ranks, with a total total of (3111) streams and runoff volume. Surface (0.03 billion m3).
