A doctoral thesis at the college of Medicine, University of Basrah discussed The role of Epstein Barr virus latent membrane protein ENV-LMP1 in PI3K pathway and the effect of PI3K inhibitors in breast cancer proliferation. The research presented by student Rasha Noori Jawad, aims to Detect the presence of EBV-LMP1 in malignant invasive ductal carcinoma and benign fibroadenoma of breast tissue , and to revealed their effect on PI3K and the role of PI3K inhibitors with and without the viral protein.
The research concluded that The association between the virus presence in malignant were four folds than in benign, and to determine the association of viral oncoprotein EBV-LMP1 with cellular activating protein PI3K with and without the PI3K inhibitor, The immuno- precipitation technique with magnetic beads and wound healing assay were detected the binding of viral proteins with its proliferation on PI3K except in effect of 30 deletion mutation of EBV-LMP1polymorphism at position 213-243bp, thus indicating its role in PI3K bindings and cancer progression.
