This thesis aims to study, follow up and analyze the basic features of the United States' policy towards Brazil during the years of its military rule. By planning a military coup to overthrow civil rule, the role of Johnson’s successor administration in the coup, the role of the United States of America in supporting and supporting the military regime, and how it overcame with its assistance the problems and crises that afflicted that regime when it was established, and the support of successive Brazilian military governments for American policies and decisions in the Western Hemisphere, and cooperation The American-Brazilian role at the regional level in addressing ideological shifts in some Latin American countries, the position of the United States of America on Brazil's efforts to reach the ranks of the great powers, the impact of changes in successive US administrations on its policy towards Brazil, and the extent of the impact of economic issues on US policy towards Brazil .
The thesis concluded that the policy of the United States of America towards Brazil varied, including its intervention methods to overthrow the government of Joao Goulart in 1964, and the diplomatic recognition of military rule (the government of Humberto Castelo Branco) and the subsequent governments, then support, and support for it through economic aid and development and investment projects. Through American agencies, it had one goal and no second, which is to consolidate the pillars of military rule in Brazil, and make it more acceptable among the existing regimes in Latin American countries. It became clear from the study that Brazil and its military regime had an effective and influential role in supporting the efforts of the United States of America in confronting the communist tide in Latin America, through political intervention to prevent ideological transformation in this country, or military intervention to overthrow the leftist (communist) regime in another country. . The study confirmed that despite the massive American aid to the military regime, the latter failed to solve the country's economic problems (economic inflation) and other economic crises that afflicted Brazil over the two decades of its rule, and it also did not succeed in achieving acceptance and political polarization from the civil forces. Because of his repressive practices, which were the means of his leaders to maintain order due to their lack of political acumen, and just as the United States was the cause of its creation with its assistance, it was the cause of its collapse and demise by exposing its repressive practices and violations of human rights, thus allowing the civil democratic forces to restore order through the institutionalization of civil character in 1985 .
