A master's thesis in the Department of Geography - College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra researched (car transport on external roads in the district of Shatrah and its future prospects for the year 2022 - a study in the geography of transportation for the student (Abd Dakhil Nahi).
The thesis dealt mainly with knowledge of the discrepancy in transport by cars on external roads in the district of Shatrah for the year 2022 by description, analysis and conclusion. And the extent of its efficiency in meeting the economic (agricultural, industrial and commercial) and social needs of its users.
The thesis included an introduction and five chapters. The first chapter dealt with the historical development of car transport in the district, as well as the development of bridges and the development of the number of cars. The second chapter dealt with the geographical determinants (natural and human) affecting car transport. As for the third chapter, light was highlighted on the variation in the intensity of the movement of goods transport vehicles. (pregnancy) on the external roads in the Shatrah district, while the fourth chapter dealt with the variation in the intensity of the movement of passenger cars on the external roads in the district, while the fifth chapter was devoted to studying the future expectations of car transport on the external roads in the Shatrah district and what will happen to the reality of car transport in the future According to the changes in population numbers, number of cars and road lengths.
The thesis concluded that there is a large discrepancy in the intensity of transport traffic in goods transport cars and passenger cars on the external roads in the district of Shatrah. The number of cars operating on the external roads, and as the thesis stressed that the natural determinants have a great role, especially the climate elements, on the intensity of car traffic and the extensions of roads.
