A master's thesis entitled (The establishment and development of the police in Basra 29 AH - 247 AH / 649 AD - 861 AD) was discussed at the Department of History / College of Arts / University of Basrah.
The thesis presented by the researcher, Ammar Mohsen Wali, included three chapters. The first chapter discussed the meaning of the police, its historical roots, and Islam’s position towards it, the second chapter discussed the establishment of the police in Basra, the responsibility and methods of choosing the owner of the police ,and the third chapter dealt with the members of the police institution, the tasks assigned to them and their weapons.
The thesis aims to identify the importance of the police and the role it played in Basra.
The thesis concluded the importance of the police and the role it played in maintaining order and security.
