A Master thesis entitled (Geographical analysis of the packaging materials industry in Basra Governorate) was discussed in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.
The thesis, which was presented by student Abeer Kazem Katafa, included four chapters. The first chapter discussed the concept, importance and characteristics of the packaging materials industry in the province of Basra and the stages of their manufacture ,the second chapter discussed the factors of localization of the packaging materials industry in the province of Basra ,the third chapter dealt with the structure of the packaging materials industry and its geographical distribution in the province of Basra, and the fourth chapter dealt with the problems of the packaging materials industry in Basra province.
The thesis aims to show the most important natural and human elements that contributed to the settlement of this industry in the study area, as well as to study the structure of this industry and to know the geographical and spatial distribution at the level of the districts of Basra Governorate, as well as to analyze it statistically, as well as to stand on the most important problems and challenges facing this industry.
The thesis concluded:
1. The packaging materials industry witnessed remarkable settlement and growth as a result of the Basra Governorate having various geographical components, as these multiple components contributed significantly to its settlement.
2. The packaging materials industry has diversified in the province of Basra to include three main categories, including the manufacture of plastic, paper and metal packaging materials.
3. There is a discrepancy in the geographical distribution of the packaging materials industry in Basra Governorate.
