Under the sponsorship of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, and in cooperation with the Women’s Empowerment Department in the Basra Governorate Office, the Women’s Empowerment Unit in the college held a lecture to enhance the educational and social aspects of sports for women.
The lecture presented by Professor Dr. Lamia Al-Diwan was entitled (Let's make sports a way of life) and was attended by a number of college employees and students, in addition to some women from the Women's Empowerment Department in Basra Governorate.
The lecture also addressed investing in free time and creating an opportunity for training and exercise, even at home, in addition to addressing the benefits of exercising according to scientific and applied studies and research that were reviewed and received interaction from the audience.
In turn, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Awfi Ahmed, indicated, “We have allocated a large space for the Women’s Empowerment Unit and we will support its educational and moral sports activities that are binding on its terms and conditions, and the work that our colleague in charge of the unit, Professor Dr. Nahida Hamed, is providing that advances the female students of our college makes us proud. Accordingly, we will give the college employees half an hour at the beginning of the morning to practice.” Sports in the college’s stadiums and gymnasiums, and this will enhance the psychological aspect and give motivation for creativity and perseverance.”
