A master's thesis in the College of Medicine at Basra University discussed the use of Vancomycin for patients on renal dialysis in terms of reaching the therapeutic concentration and preventing toxicity. The research presented by student Fatima Youssef Mohamed aims to know the effect of washing blood on the therapeutic concentration of the antibiotic (Vancomycin) and to study the factors that affect it. The research concluded that giving 500 mg of Vancomycin two or three times a week is not sufficient to obtain a decreased therapeutic concentration in most patients, which leads to the need to increase the dose. The research recommended increasing the dose of Vancomycin with routine control of Vancomycin concentration in hemodialysis patients.
