A research team from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, consisting of Professor Dr. Falah Hassan Shri, Assistant Professor Dr. Gibran Khalil Hassan, Assistant Professor Dr. Uday Sajjad, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ghassan Salah Ahmed, obtained a patent from the State of India to enable them to manufacture (a portable device for examining Diabetes through saliva.
The patent included the manufacture of a device for testing blood sugar using saliva without the need to prick a finger. What distinguishes it is that it does not require test strips or maintaining it at a specific temperature, and the error rate in it is low compared to other blood-based testing devices because it needs specific standards to give accuracy in the results.
