The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra held a lecture on electronic blackmail and its multiple motives that the blackmailer takes to achieve what he wants from the victim, ways to prevent it, and the side effects resulting from the crime of electronic blackmail on the individual, the family, society, and the state.
It was attended by Master Lieutenant Colonel Alaa Dhahi Khalifa, Engineer Lieutenant Colonel Wajdi Jassim Ghanem, and Technical Lieutenant Ahmed Hashem Najm from the Directorate of Technology and Informatics, Department of Technology and Informatics in Basra, in cooperation with the Women’s Empowerment Unit in the College of Dentistry. The lecturers pointed out the most important criminal penalties imposed on the perpetrator according to the Iraqi Penal Code. No. 111 of 1969, amended under Paragraphs 430 - 431 - 432 as a threat crime punishable by law. How is the criminal confrontation of this crime carried out against its perpetrator? Is there a possibility for special legislation for the crime of electronic blackmail.
At the end of the lecture, some tips and recommendations were presented and what to do if you are exposed to electronic blackmail as solutions and treatment, including registering a complaint against its perpetrators via the Ministry of Interior’s toll-free hotlines, which are dealt with in complete confidentiality until reaching the blackmailer, and the most important tips that you should follow if you fall victim to blackmail and how. It secures and protects your mobile phone if it is lost or falls into the wrong hands.
