
The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra and the Statistical Educational Clinics Unit have completed the first half of the 2023/2024 academic year, which is related to the work of educational clinics.
The educational clinics official, Dr. Ahmed Hani, stated, “During the first half of the current academic year, the educational clinics received approximately 6,030 examination and diagnosis cases, 1,855 treatment and x-ray cases of all kinds, 1,329 cases of fillings, 890 extraction cases, and the children’s branch received 291 cases, as well as the analysis laboratory, 2,405 analysis cases, and the educational clinics.” Dentistry provides its services to segments of society at nominal prices as a contribution to the role of (the college in serving the community).
The work in the clinic is divided into several clinics:
1. Surgery Branch Clinic (extractions and various surgical procedures)
2. Treatment branch clinic (fillings and root canal fillings).
3. Children’s Branch Clinic (treatment of children, baby teeth, and preventive measures)
4. Orthodontic branch clinic (diagnosis and orthodontic treatment with removable appliances).
5. Industry Branch Clinic (partial and complete removable prosthetics)
6. Oral Medicine Branch Clinic (diagnosing various medical conditions and prescribing appropriate medications).
The college trains students for the fourth and fifth stages to prepare them as competent dentists, with direct support from the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Fateh Abdel-Sahib Al-Khaqani, and the Dean’s Assistants for Administrative and Scientific Affairs.
