
The Department of Media and Government Communication at the University of Basra held a two-day workshop entitled (University media and its role in building a positive image of the university).
The Media and Government Communication Division at the College of Dentistry participated in it.
As media and communication are two big words that carry within them a lot of responsibility, effort, commitment, promotion, modernization, comprehensiveness, creativity, communication, documentation, and many other positive qualities that must accompany media and communication when we talk about an institution like the University of Basra dealing with its surroundings. With individuals who belong to a large society full of contradictions, affiliations, commitments, and talents.
Lecturer Raghad Suhail Abdullah pointed out, “Universities are made up of a diverse and overlapping group of people who work in one of the services that constitute the heart of modern science, which is knowledge.” He goes on to say, "In this capacity, the university creates knowledge, stores it, develops it, and disseminates it through the various mechanisms and media it possesses."
The Undersecretary of the Department of Media and Government Communication, Professor Nashwan Adnan Shaker, explained in his lecture what university media is, what are the functions of media, and how university media contributes to enhancing the university spirit and university affiliation among students, faculty members, and employees.
On the second day, Professor Muhammad Al-Asadi added printed news, radio and television broadcasts, and clarified the disagreement between them in writing and news interviews.
The workshop aims to promote thought, market knowledge, research its depth, highlight it, and stimulate it within services, relationships, communications, programs, conferences, and research that lead to its development and embrace, as well as to adopting thought within the folds of comprehensive quality.
