The College of Administration and Economics/Al-Qurna at the University of Basra organized a workshop on mathematics and the development of project management, finance and investment in cooperation with the Iraqi Mathematical Society and Al-Anwar Center for Development and Education.
The workshop aimed to identify the most important modern mathematical methods and tools used in evaluating and developing projects, as well as the relationship of some natural sciences with the field of management and economics, such as physics and biology.
The workshop included discussion of a number of research papers participated in the workshop by researchers in various specializations such as economics, management, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, physics, and biology, investing in financial bodies, measuring the effect of the zero interest rate on economic variables, physics theories in serving the economy, and the role of financial engineering in decision-making. The relationship of the economy to development in the field of information technology, building a proposed quantitative model for planning the sustainability of intellectual capital in business organizations using the Shannon Entropy approach, the role of mathematical modeling in economic analysis, economic feasibility in establishing hospitals.
The committee preparing recommendations for the workshop recommended several recommendations, including the need to rely more on mathematical methods and methodologies in conducting scientific research in the faculties of administration and economics to obtain more accurate and effective conclusions, as well as the need to activate teaching methods based on cognitive and perceptual delivery methods in a more intensive manner.
