A group of lecturers at the Polymer Research Center, University of Basrah participated in giving a two-day workshop in which Dr. Harith A. Hassan, Dr. Maher A. Jalal, and Dr. Tahseen A. Ali participated, and the workshop was tagged with the title: (Thermal properties of materials) on Monday, 2/5/2024, where the thermal properties of various materials were discussed. The workshop included several topics. Thermal analysis methods are distinguished from other analytical methods in that they apply to solid samples directly and without the need to melt or process them, and different samples can be analysed. Other, such as plastics, metals, ceramics and glass, the focus was on differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), which is an effective analytical tool for characterizing the physical properties of polymers because it allows us to determine the melting and crystallization temperatures, the mesomorphic transition and changes in enthalpy, and to characterize the glass transition and the resulting effects that appear either Such as changes in capacity, thermal heat, or latent heat.
