University of Basra organizes a scientific symposium on pollution and ways to reduce it
The Geography Department, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for Girls, organized a scientific symposium entitled Solid waste pollution and ways to reduce it within the activities of the Environmental Conservation Week, presented by a number of the department’s teachers.
The symposium shed light on the concept of environmental pollution with solid waste, its types, environmental risks, the most important ways to treat it, and the possibility of benefiting from it in some recycling industries.
The symposium also presented some recommendations regarding preserving the environment, especially the university environment, and instructing students not to throw away solid waste, especially plastic.
It also recommended the need to support relevant research and educate workers in the service field about the importance of this type of pollution.
