The College of Administration and Economics/Qurna at the University of Basra organized a symposium on financing the deficit in the general budget and the regressive effects on economic activity. This symposium comes through encouraging and enhancing the research activities of the college’s students in general, and the students of the Finance and Investment Department in particular.
The symposium aimed to explain the importance of financing the general budget, shed light on the reasons that lead to the budget deficit, and give an in-depth idea of the effects of the deficit on economic activity.

The symposium recommended developing a mechanism to avoid the regressive effects of the budget deficit, and proposing sources of financing that are less harmful to the Iraqi economy.
