The Dentistry College at Basra University organized a scientific lecture on radiation hazards, which was attended by an elite group of faculty members at the college and a number of teaching assistants and employees.
The lecture aimed to meet security and safety requirements in scientific laboratories related to medical radiation.
The lecture, in which Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Faleh Hassan present in it, addressed the danger resulting from radiation and the radiation impact on workers in laboratories and radiation imaging units and the mechanism for calculating the radiation risk factor for cancer.
In conclusion, the lecture explained the most important safety requirements, the radiation detection mechanism and detection devices and tools. Finally, a set of recommendations were included for workers in the field of radiation and the period of presence in laboratories where radioactive sources are available.
