As part of the steps taken by the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra to develop scientific research, and in light of the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research that call for developing applied scientific research to address existing problems and find solutions to them, the Geography Department at the College adopted research into developing and growing manufacturing industries in Basra Governorate. On the occasion of Science Day, in which the scientific results were presented to graduate students, graduate student Wafaa Salman Hassan, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Fares Mahdi, presented a study examining the problems facing the manufacturing industries in Basra Governorate, and the role of the natural, human, and economic industrial components in the distribution of the establishment of those industries and their impact on the growth.
