The College of Education for Pure Sciences in the Department of Chemistry discussed a diploma thesis on the preparation and biological study of three complexes derived from Schiff’s base.
The diploma thesis presented by the researcher (Abdulaziz Shehab Hamad) included the study and diagnosis of this ligand using infrared (FT-IR) spectra, visible and ultraviolet (Uv-vis) spectra, 1H-NMR spectra, and mass spectrometry. It was found that the ligand Two-pin type (NO) preparation. The complexes were prepared from the reaction of the prepared ligand with some transition elements Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+ and were diagnosed using spectroscopy using visible and ultraviolet (Uv-vis) spectroscopy, infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and molar conductivity, which showed low values, indicating that the complexes They do not have negative roots outside the coordination sphere. A TGA study was also conducted for the complexes to determine whether these complexes contain water molecules coordinated with the central atom. The study also included an evaluation of the magnetic properties of the prepared complexes. The results showed that the complexes of both cobalt (II) and copper (II) (Nickel II) complexes take the octahedral geometric shape and have paramagnetic properties.
Based on the various diagnostic methods described above, synthetic formulas for the prepared complexes were proposed. The biological activity was studied on two types of ligand-positive and negative bacteria and the prepared complexes. The study showed that the ligand and some complexes have activity against the bacteria under study.
