The Marine Sciences Center at the University of Basra held a course on (Classification of Waters Accompanying Oil Accumulations). Which is part of the Marine Science Center's continuing education courses
The course included a lecture entitled (Classification of Waters Accompanying Oil Accumulations) delivered by Dr. Rafid Nouri Rajab, Department of Marine Sedimentology.
The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of formation water in the oil and gas industry.
The lecture discussed four main topics:
1. Chemical composition of formation water.
2. Conditions of its formation.
3. Study of geochemical characteristics.
4. The impact of hydrocarbons and other organic compounds on production and the environment.
The lecture also concluded by opening a discussion with the audience about the proposed methods for improving the quality of formation water for the purpose of reusing it in irrigation or industry.
