The faculty member at the College of Law, University of Basra, Itidal Abdul Baqi Youssef Al-Audhaib, published a book titled 'Arbitration in Resolving Disputes Related to Documentary Credits.'
The book, which consists of 267 pages divided into two chapters, discusses arbitration in resolving disputes related to documentary credits.
The author explained that the judiciary is the natural way to resolve disputes that arise among all individuals. However, this does not mean that it is the only way for such purposes. Alongside it, there are other methods, the most prominent and important of which is arbitration. Arbitration is a special litigation method conducted away from ordinary courts to settle disputes among individuals through one or more arbitrators, due to its many advantages, the most important being its speed, flexibility, and low cost.
He pointed out that the flexibility and simplicity of arbitration procedures, along with its low cost and speed, in addition to the wide freedom granted to the parties in the documentary credit contract, have made many disputants in banking transactions resort to it."
