Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab, Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Basra, in the presence of the President of the University, the assistants, the deans of the university’s faculties, and representatives of the Holy Imam Hussein Shrine, participated in the ceremony of raising the flag of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in the middle of the central library courtyard in the Bab Al-Zubair complex.
The deputies said that raising the banner of Imam Hussein at the University of Basra has become an annual tradition from which we draw inspiration from the meanings of sacrifice, pride, and steadfastness against injustice, and consolidating the humanitarian meanings of the noble message of Muhammad.
The representatives added that the great history represented by the city of Basra and its university, which is the cultural and academic gateway to this city, and its expansion to a large number of colleges and research centers, whether on the scientific, cultural or social side.
It is noteworthy that the University of Basra raises the Husseini flag annually, marking the declaration of mourning and sharing condolences for the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
