Assistant Professor Dr. Wameed Hashem Abbas Al-Qatranji, a faculty member from the University of Basra - Al-Zahraa College of Medicine, chaired one of the scientific sessions at the Second International Medical Conference on Mass Gathering Medicine. The conference was held from August 9th to 10th, 2024, under the theme "Mass Gathering Medicine... The Arbaeen Pilgrimage as a Model" at Al-Sibtain Medical University in Karbala. The conference participants discussed ways to improve the medical and health services provided to pilgrims. Researchers presented papers addressing the health challenges and difficulties faced by both pilgrims and medical staff during large gatherings in Iraq, using the Arbaeen pilgrimage as a model. The conference concluded with important recommendations to address the medical and health issues in future mass gatherings.
