The current study investigates point of view in William Faulkner’s novel The Sound and the Fury through applying Paul Simpson’s modal grammar of point of view. The study is concerned with conducting a narrative-stylistic analysis to the four sections of the novel through focusing on the linguistic devices used by the four narrators to arrive at their attitudes and beliefs. The current study basically comprises two parts, the first is theoretical and the second is practical. Chapter One introduces the preliminary remarks of the study. Chapter Two surveys the theoretical framework of the study. The practical part is composed of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth chapters. Chapter seven presents the conclusions and suggestions for further research. The Sound and the Fury is analysed narratively and stylistically to arrive at the different types of point of view of the four narrators. Each chapter in the practical part consists of the results that are calculated drawing on the percentages which are figured out.
