College of Nursing Media
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab, our college organized a symposium entitled “Parents are a gift without compensation.” The symposium was attended by the teacher Abdul-Kadhim Jawad and the researcher Nouris Talib. It included several important points, the most important of which are honoring parents, praying for parents, spending on them, honoring them when they are alive and dead, and when they are disabled, and looking at them with mercy. It also included the rights of parents and the effects of honoring them in this world and the hereafter. The importance of building a healthy and positive relationship with parents was also addressed, and how this relationship can contribute to the growth and development of the individual personally and professionally. During the symposium, experiences and experiments were exchanged between students and they were directed towards dealing properly with their parents, which made the symposium a rich experience in knowledge and guidance in the field of honoring parents. The symposium, which was held under the slogan of honoring parents, aimed to address what our Iraqi society has been witnessing recently due to the spread of alien cultures in Iraqi society, family disintegration, the increase in divorce cases, poverty, family problems, and pushing children with their fathers and mothers to nursing homes, and to educate and inform students on how to deal with kindness and honor parents.
