Assistant professor Zainab J. Sweah participated in the discussion of the doctoral student Ziad T. Falak's thesis in the College of Science / Department of Chemistry. His thesis was entitled: Preparation and Characterization of Some Polymeric Additives as Viscosity Modulus Improvers and Pour Point Reducers for Iraqi Lubricating Oils. The thesis included the preparation and design of polymeric additives for lubricating oils that provide the best efficiency as a viscosity modulus improver and pour point reducer with two types of Iraqi lubricating oil, taking into account the basic factors that affect the efficiency of this type of additive. The research also studied the possibility of developing these polymers and improving their efficiency by using industrial waste, specifically polyethylene wax, which is a by-product of polyethylene polymerization in the General Company for Petrochemical Industries in Basrah.
