Under the patronage of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Mohannad Jawad al-Asadi, and the supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Zahra Mohammed, the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Department of student activities, organized a chess tournament today, Wednesday, November 6, 2024 in the hallway of the college.
In a statement made by the student activity Officer at the college, assistant professor Dr. Sabah Mohammed Yassin, he said that the tournament witnessed the participation of 10 players from within the college. Yassin pointed out the importance of the chess tournament as one of the mental Sports that contribute to the development of thinking skills and memory enhancement, as it helps practicing players to improve mental flexibility and concentration.
The tournament was attended by the dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Zahra, a number of college professors and a group of students who expressed their enthusiasm and encouragement to the participants, which added an exciting and interactive atmosphere to the tournament.
The Championship concluded by honoring the winners of the first places to encourage them for their achievements, and to motivate the rest of the students to practice mental activities that combine fun and educational benefit, and develop intellectual skills and mental abilities.
