
The University of Basra held the twelfth course on chemical, biological and radiation safety and security, with the participation of all members of the Central Committee of CBRN.
Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Faleh from the College of Dentistry participated in the radiation safety course in his capacity as a member of the Central Committee of CBRN and Chairman of the CBRN Sub-Committee in the College of Dentistry with a lecture on radiation contamination Requirement of Radiation Hazards Response
The lecture included two parts, the first of which included four axes: an introduction to radiation, a definition of radiation contamination, its types and the resulting danger, the radiation effect on laboratory workers, a definition of cancer and the radiation hazard factor for cancer.
Then the second part dealt with four axes: safety requirements, the importance of preparing an emergency plan, training workers, explaining the mechanism of radiation detection, detection devices and its tools, and finally a set of recommendations for students were included regarding safety and the period of presence in laboratories that have radioactive sources.
The lecture was attended by some members of the CBRN Central Committee and about 85 male and female graduate students who were required to take this course, which is a mandatory course for all graduate students and a graduation requirement.
