
The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on the role of mast cells in an inflammation in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the college.
The lecture aims to introduce mast cells as one of the important defensive cells found in the connective tissue in different areas of the body in the skin, oral cavity, respiratory and digestive tract, etc.
The lecture, which was given by the lecturer Dr. Faten Latif, a lecturer at the college, included identifying these cells, classifying them, and how to identify them histologically, as well as their distribution, and their effective role in confronting various pathogens in the oral cavity, especially in the gum tissues, as they are the first lines of defense against various infections.
He added that these cells and identifying their various granular components, their benefits, and how to activate and stimulate them to perform their defensive role.
